Mary Bousted, NEU
Mary is Joint General Secretary of the National Education Union. She represents the interests of members to the Government and a wide variety of other stakeholders. As the education union, NEU leads the debate on key educational issues with strong policy positions on, for example, assessment and curriculum changes, school accountability and school structures.
Mary previously worked in higher education at York University, Edge Hill University and Kingston University where she was head of the School of Education. Prior to this Mary was head of English and an English teacher in comprehensive schools in north London..
Moyra Boland is Deputy Head of the School of Education at the University of Glasgow. She is responsible for all the undergraduate provision and the development of international renowned teacher education programmes, community education programmes, leadership and management programmes for teacher and early years programmes. As Deputy Head of School she has responsibility for the strategic leadership of the school and deputising for the Head of School.
Trevor Mutton is an Associate Professor at the Department of Education (Oxford University) and is Director of Professional Programmes. Trevor also sits on the UCET Executive Committee and is the Chair of the UCET Intellectual Base of Teacher Education working group.
At the University of Oxford, he teaches on the Modern Languages PGCE programme and also teaches and supervises on the part-time MSc in Learning and Teaching, as well as supervising doctoral students whose research focuses on aspects of teacher education and teachers’ professional learning. He has worked at the Department of Education since 1997, having previously been Head of Modern Languages at one of the Department’s partnership schools. His principal research interests are in the fields of initial teacher education, teacher education policy and teachers’ continued professional leadership.
