1. Teacher Degree Apprenticeship – Institute for Apprenticeships Survey

The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) welcome your views on the Teacher Degree Apprenticeship draft standard. The survey will close on 25 March 2024.

2. ITT Scholarships in Physics

The Institute of Physics (IOP) is awarding 175 scholarships worth £30,000 to individuals who are committed to inspiring future generations of physicists. Scholarships are for those starting teacher training in England in September 2024.

The additional benefits of the scholarship programme are professional development opportunities including:

· access to Continued Professional Development (CPD) workshops and events

· support from a network of fellow IOP scholars and physics teachers across the UK

· free IOP membership for their teacher training year.

Scholarships are also available in Physics, Chemistry, Computing and Languages and applications are open across all subjects.

3. Free event: Supporting your return to a teaching role in England 

The Return to Teaching Advisory Service is running a free webinar on 19 April 2024 1 to 2pm for those considering returning to teaching, supported by the Teaching Vacancies Service.

The event will cover:

· How a Return to Teaching Adviser can help you return to teaching

· Your first steps in returning to the classroom

· Finding teaching vacancies, training opportunities and subject specific courses

· Q&A session, ask your questions to a live panel of teaching experts

4. Summer 2024 Get Into Teaching events spaces available

The Get Into Teaching summer term event programme has been confirmed and spaces are available for training providers.

Events are regionally focused. Only apply for events in your region as we can only host a limited number of providers.

A list of events and further information on the summer programme is available on the attached booking form.

Spaces will be allocated and providers notified week commencing 22 April 2024.

5. Updates to the initial teacher training (ITT) criteria for academic year 2024/25

The Department for Education hasWe have updated the initial teacher training (ITT) criteria for academic year 2024/25, on 15 February 2024.

Minor changes have been made for clarity, and there are no changes to existing policy. This update reflects changes to the fee setting regulations that came into effect on the same day.
