Research on Creativity and Creative Arts in Primary ITT

At present, the arts in schools in England appear to be in considerable trouble. Enrolments in secondary school art subjects have fallen, and time devoted to the arts in primary schools is apparently greatly reduced. There is however little research and literature have identified evidence about what arts training is offered in primary Initial Teacher Training. This research project, funded by the Freelands Foundation, will conduct short structured interviews with directors and art specialists of primary ITT programmes in school, university and school-centered ITT training institutions to discuss creative arts and creativity teaching within the Primary ITT.
We hope to provide robust data about the current situation to inform discussions about creative arts and creativity education. Your participation will potentially contribute to changes in teacher education in England.
