Supporting Fundamental Numeracy Skills for Trainee Teachers
Assuring that trainees have sufficient fundamental skills is now an important responsibility of ITE providers. To support our members in delivering this, the charity National Numeracy has an online resource that identifies the current skill level of your students, provides learning resources to help them improve their skills and offers reporting to you on students’ numeracy levels and progress.
A number of leading providers use this resource to support students and to ensure that appropriate monitoring and assurance mechanisms are in place before awarding QTS.
The numeracy resource is based on everyday maths skills as defined by the Essentials of Numeracy, evidenced by achieving a score on the assessment which is broadly equivalent to Functional Skills Level 2. A test link has been set up for members to review the resource and is available here until the end of August.
For more information about the resource, including pricing, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or sign up here to an informal discussion with National Numeracy online on Thursday 23rd July at 11am to find out more.
