Cognition Education: government funded work placement programme

23 May 2019

Following the highly successful first year of the programme which saw nearly 300 students successfully complete a 40-hour placement over the last 12 months, Cognition are running this programme again, refreshed and rebranded as Talent to Teach in FE (T2TFE) and will place over 400 students with providers over the next three academic terms. We are currently placing students now (this term before the summer break).

The placement will provide students with the opportunity to identify and appraise some of the skills and knowledge they will need to pursue a teaching career in FE, in a supportive environment, and will give them an opportunity to increase their employability skills, and enhance their CV. They will also receive a £300 payment on completion of the placement.

The placements are available across all locations in England and are open to *final year undergraduates or postgraduates, home or EU students. Placements are open to students from all academic disciplines and we encourage students who may never have considered a career in teaching, or indeed, a career in Further Education to apply.

We would therefore welcome the support of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in promoting this programme to final year under graduates and post graduates. Please could you circulate this information within your student communities and your wider networks. Students can complete the very short application form using the following link:

We would also welcome you sharing this information with any FE providers you may already have relationships with and who may be interested in providing 40-hour work placement opportunities. FE providers will also receive a £300 bursary for each student that they take on placement. Providers can apply by completing a short application form here:

Thank you in advance for your support with this.
