Ofsted Inspection of Initial Teacher Education 2008-11 Consultation Document

The 'Inspection of initial teacher education 2008-11' consultation document outlines Ofsted's proposals for the inspections of initial teacher education from September 2008, and sets out views of how inspection needs to move forward if it is to continue to stimulate improvement in the teaching profession.

The way the consultation will work is as follows:

· The website has a very brief introduction and the response ‘tick boxes’ with a link to the full consultation document - that will actually be treated as an Ofsted publication – the site has been set up so that both the response form and the consultation document are open at the same time if people want to do it all on-line as opposed to printing the document

· The consultation document itself has a link to the full Inspection Schedule with the graded questions and the details of what inspectors will evaluate – this is being treated as a separate publication.

· The software is set up so that we can monitor responses at any time, as well as automatically transferring the responses into an Excel spreadsheet to undertake the analysis.
