Refugees into Teaching

Details of policy support to Refugees into Teaching, the national TDA funded
service.

A guide is linked on this page, produced with the Equality and Human Rights Commission aimed at education employers and initial teacher training providers. This has relevant information on important points such as documentation checks to evidence entitlement to work and train. However, it also provides specific details on UK NARIC's assessment of overseas degrees. These are issues for both employers and ITT providers.

Research has been carried out into the experience of refugees in England who are overseas trained teachers. This has developed into a wider piece of work on the current culture of recruiting and employing OTTs (refugee or otherwise) in schools in England. A key emerging feature is the role of supply agencies as employers and the restrictions this places on an OTT's ability to access initial teacher training.
