Research and International Committee
The aim of the UCET Research and Development Committee is to hold a regular forum to discuss and debate issues relating to research in education, with particular regard to teacher education.
Specifically, the committee responds to consultation documents on education research, liaises with other committees and research organisations, is proactive in engaging in public debate on matters relating to education research and represents the interests of UCET member organisations in the field of research.
We usually invite a speaker to or before committee meetings to make a presentation on a subject of topical interest or concern. Recent guest speakers have included: Professor Peter Gilroy, Director of Research, Manchester Metropolitan University, speaking on The Full Economic Cost of Research and its Implications for Teacher Education; Will Naylor from HEFCE speaking on Funding Arrangements for Postgraduate Research Degree Programmes; Andrew Morris from NERF introducing a discussion on Systematic Reviews and Professor Margaret Brown, Chair of the RAE Education sub-panel, explaining the panel’s thinking so far.
