Honorary Life-President: Mary Russell

Mary J Russell was Secretary/Executive Director to UCET since its inception in 1967 until she retired in December 2004 when she was appointed Honorary Life-President of UCET.

She has been awarded an MBE for services to education, an honorary DEd (Nottingham Trent University), an honorary DLitt (University of Hertfordshire), was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and was awarded a Fellowship of the London University, Institute of Education.

She has given talks and presentations in the US and Australia as well as the UK. She was one of the first two directors of GTC (England & Wales) Trust (1989) and is a Trustee of the Hewett/Driver Trust. She was a member of Management Committee of ESCalate (Education Subject Centre) and has served on numerous DfES and TDA focus groups and advisory groups.
